The KFKids Fellowship Program is a national initiative that empowers high school educators to bring hands-on culinary education and food justice into their classrooms. Through this fellowship, teachers gain the support, mentorship, and funding needed to help students develop real-world cooking skills while addressing food insecurity in their communities.
With generous support from 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, WellSky Foundation, and other dedicated partners, the KFKids Fellows Program is equipping educators with the tools to inspire the next generation of food leaders—students who understand that food is not just nourishment, but a powerful tool for community impact and social change.
The annual KFKids Fellowship is limited to 10 invited educators from across the country, chosen for their passion and vision for pioneering innovative Real World Learning solutions to critical issues around food insecurity and sustainability.
Fellows will travel to Kansas City for a one-week training program covering topics related to food insecurity, sustainability, and reducing food waste, including hands-on cooking labs. Travel expenses are covered for this training (transportation, lodging, meals).
Fellows will complete two KFKids lessons and meal donation projects 2025-26 school year (funded by KFKids), participate in scheduled, virtual Professional Learning Community sessions, and meet milestones throughout the school year.
The Fellowship experience will culminate is the Capstone Project. Fellows will design and implement a project advancing the Kids Feeding Kids mission and create an Impact Report or other evidence of how the project enhances or increases the capacity of KFKids.
Fellows receive stipends totaling $3,000 as program milestones are completed throughout the year.
Fellows may choose to earn reduced-rate graduate credits for the completion of their Fellowship.
Fellows will join a select, national cohort of educators committed to fostering community-driven solutions while advancing their professional growth. By the end of the fellowship, educators will have guided their students in preparing and distributing thousands of meals, providing hands-on experience in meal production, teamwork, and social responsibility.
